Mechanical Composting of Organic Waste

The hospitality industry and the food and beverage activities generate waste, especially food waste. Some of our sites opt for on-site composting, which has several advantages: it produces compost for our green spaces and enriches the soil.

The quantities of organic waste produced on our sites can be significant, so we opted for a low-tech mechanical composting solution that accelerates composting while avoiding odour nuisance and pests attracted by food waste.

This mechanical composter consists of a thermally insulated tank that helps the food inside to heat up, and an endless screw that stirs up the material to oxygenate the waste and speed up its decomposition. With a simple turn of a crank, this electricity-free system is not only environmentally friendly, it’s also easy for our teams to use.
